To support our learning this term, the Year One students will be taking part in an excursion to Caversham Wildlife Park on Wednesday 12th August.
This excursion will enrich our learning in both HASS and Writing. Students will explore a range of Australian animals and their habitats while learning about the natural environment. They will also gather facts and observations to support our Information Report writing unit.
Excursion Details
Students are required to wear their full school uniform (school sports top, not faction shirt) and bring their school bag containing their recess, lunch, water bottle and school hat. Students must arrive at school before the 8:40 am bell, as we will be leaving the classroom shortly afterwards to board the buses. The buses will depart promptly at 9:00 am, so it is important that all students arrive on time to ensure we can leave as scheduled. The students will travel by bus to and from the venue.
Parent Helpers
We are looking for 5 parent volunteers from each Year One class to assist with supervising students throughout the day. If you are available to help, please email your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. If more than five parents volunteer from a class, helpers will be selected by a random draw and notified prior to the excursion.
If you are volunteering, please keep the following in mind:
- Younger siblings cannot accompany you while supervising a student group.
- You will supervise a group of approximately five students.
- It will be your responsibility to know where your group is throughout the day and ensure students remain safe and together.
- A suggested timetable will be provided, including a variety of animal presentations and attractions that your group may like to attend. You do not need to attend every presentation—please feel free to choose one or two that best suit your group’s interests and the time available. The most important times to follow are our scheduled recess, lunch and departure times.
