On Thursday the 3rd of September, we were very lucky to spend the day at St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth as part of our preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation next year. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to step outside of the classroom and deepen their understanding of their faith in such a beautiful and significant place.

Throughout the day, students participated in a number of engaging activities designed to get them thinking about their faith, their values and the important questions we face throughout our lives. We learnt more about St Francis of Assisi, exploring his life, his faith and the ways in which he lived out his beliefs.

At 12:00pm, we attended Mass in St Mary’s Cathedral. For many students, this was a really special experience as they were able to celebrate Mass together in such a beautiful and historic setting.

Following Mass, we were fortunate enough to have a guided tour of the Cathedral led by some of the wonderful St Mary’s Cathedral volunteers. They were incredibly knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information about the history and significance of the Cathedral, as well as its beautiful artwork, architecture and religious features. The students were able to ask questions and learn about things they may not have noticed simply by visiting the Cathedral themselves.

Overall, it was a really meaningful, enjoyable and memorable day. It was wonderful to see the students engaged, curious and respectful throughout the excursion, and they represented our school beautifully. A big thank you to the volunteers at St Mary’s Cathedral for sharing their knowledge with us and helping make the day such a special experience for our students!
