The children have settled into our classroom routines well, including our homework expectations.

To assist, the Year 4 Homework routine is outline for your reference below.

The children are given a homework grid, which includes six activities to be completed in two weeks. The due date is at the top of the grid. The children are asked to tick the tasks completed and we would appreciate if you signed the grid to acknowledge that your child has completed the tasks.

The two most important tasks are Reading and Mathematics:

Reading

It is important that all children continue to read regularly in order to improve their skills, especially comprehension. A guide has been glued at the front of the book, which includes some examples of questions that can assist your child to develop his/ her comprehension skills. Please encourage your child to record his/ her reading routines on the Reading log and it would be great if you signed it.

Mathematics

The instant recall of tables is a key skill in Year 4. We focus on different table skills in the classroom but each child is at his/ her level in the development of these skills. Other tasks allocated relate to the progress of mental maths skills and may also focus on concepts being covered at that particular time.

No homework is given on weekends.

Thank you for supporting your child in this area.
