On Thursday, 20th August, the Year 4 classes participated in a hands-on gardening incursion hosted by a team member from Bunnings.  The workshop focused on teaching children the basics of plant care while creating a meaningful, living gift for the important male figures in their lives.

During the session, students learned about soil health, the role of nutrients and how to safely handle gardening tools. The students decorated a pot with heartfelt and personalised messages to the special males in their lives.

Under the guidance of Kristylee each student carefully filled a cultivation pot with nutrient-rich compost, ensuring the soil was perfectly prepped for planting. They then selected and planted fresh seedlings, learning the correct techniques to protect the delicate root systems.

This interactive experience blended practical science and sustainability concepts with a creative, real-world application. Every student will take home a beautifully potted plant, ready to be gifted as a token of appreciation to their fathers, grandfathers or special guardians.

We sincerely thank Midland Bunnings for supplying the pots, compost and seedlings free of charge and sending Kristylee to help complete this activity.

We would like to honor all the wonderful father figures who guide, support and inspire us every day.  Whether you are a dad, grandfather, uncle, stepfather, or mentor, your presence makes a lasting difference.

Thank you for the encouragement you give, the patience you show, and the quiet ways you help those around you grow. We hope your day is filled with the relaxation and appreciation you truly deserve.  Happy Father’s Day!
