On Thursday, 27th August, the Year Threes enjoyed our Wendy Binks incursion.
She stayed with us for half the day exceeding our expectations of this incursion! She spoke about writing her books, developing characters and storylines. Wendy asked the students for some input on new adventures that are in the pipeline for Stripey, including a new book and potential animation series. She showed us the progression of her illustrations for her characters and how her books are published. Then Wendy lead us through a series of directed drawings – showing us all (including Miss Gentile, Mrs Brown and Mrs Franklin) how to develop our own characters focusing on starting with a series of basic shapes.
We look forward to showcasing our artistic talent guided by Wendy on open night, please come and look at our drawings displayed in the Year 3 classrooms.
Wendy kindly painted a canvas while with the students of a scene from her book “Where’s Stripey?”. It is displayed in the Middle block wet area near Year 3 Blue’s classroom, so please come and have a look at her amazing art work!
