As a way of reminder, the information below, which was shared earlier this year in our Year 1 Overview of Learning Letter, is provided for your reference.

This term, our class will be moving from whole-class news to small group news sharing, which will take place every Wednesday.

Instead of presenting to the whole class, students will be placed into small groups of 4, where each child will have a turn to share their news using a timer. This allows every student to speak each week in a calm, supportive setting and helps build confidence, listening skills, and turn-taking.

A table filled with each weeks news topic is  provided below to support students in preparing what they would like to share. S tudents will speak to their group while others practise being respectful listeners and asking questions.

This approach gives all students more opportunities to speak and share, while making news time more engaging and manageable.
