In Year Three, homework will continue to follow the same format as Semester One. Students are expected to read to an adult to help improve their fluency and expression. This reading only needs to be for 10 minutes, after which students are encouraged to continue reading independently. We understand that lives are busy, so we have an expectation of at least 4 entries of reading per week.

All reading must be recorded nightly in the student’s Reading Log, which is located at the front of the homework book.

Students will also be given a Homework Grid, which will begin in Week 2. The homework grid includes a variety of activities to be completed over a fortnight, and these activities relate to the learning covered in class. Some activities will need to be recorded in the homework book, such as writing sentences or completing maths sums. Other activities may involve participation with the family, for example praying the Hail Mary together.

We ask that students place their Homework Bag into their school bag each day, as this allows them to change their reading books when needed. This is done independently by the students.

Reading Logs will be checked weekly, and Homework Grids will be checked fortnightly. These checks will take place on Tuesdays, and students are asked to bring their homework books into the classroom first thing on Tuesday mornings.

As we have started this term, we have noticed that a lot of students are without vital stationery that they will need for the rest of the year. Therefore, this weekend (end of Week 1) we are sending home all pencil cases and spare items with the students. Please ensure that your child has at least the following:

  • 6 writing pencils
  • 1 set of each of coloured textas, crayons and pencils
  • 4 glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • 2 fine liners
  • 2 sharpies
  • 4 erasers
  • A ruler
  • 2 whiteboard markers
  • A working set of headphones

Thank you for your continued support.
