Year 5 students will be completing homework using a homework grid. The grid consists of four main boxes and three smaller boxes. The four main boxes are non-negotiable, and all students are expected to complete these tasks each fortnight. The three smaller boxes are optional and provide students with opportunities for extension and choice.
In addition to the grid, all students are expected to read for at least 15 minutes each night to support their reading development.
Homework will be set and completed over a two-week period (a fortnight). It will begin in Week 2, with the following schedule:
- Weeks 2–3: Due Friday of Week 3
- Weeks 4–5: Due Friday of Week 5
- Weeks 6–7: Due Friday of Week 7
- Weeks 8–9: Due Friday of Week 9
Homework activities will vary and may include tasks from writing, reading, mathematics, and religion. Please ensure you sign your child’s homework before it is returned each fortnight.
