We have had such a wonderful start to the year and are so proud of how well the students have settled into Year One. It has been fantastic to see their confidence, independence, and love of learning continue to grow each day. Thank you again for your ongoing support — it truly makes a difference.

As we move into Term 2, we will be continuing with the same homework routine and format as Term 1. Students will continue to bring home their homework folders each day, with a focus on nightly reading.

We are hoping to begin sending home readers as soon as possible. Over the next couple of weeks, teachers will be spending time re-testing all students. During this time, you may notice some changes to your child’s reading level. While reading levels are one part, we also place a strong focus on students’ reading behaviors — such as confidence, fluency, comprehension, and their ability to use strategies when reading.

What to expect:

  • Homework will continue to focus on reading each night
  • Students will independently change their home reader in the classroom
  • A home reader will be taken home daily
  • Homework folders should be brought to school each day (Monday to Friday)
  • Reading logs should continue to be signed and dated when your child reads

Students are now very familiar with these routines and will continue to be supported at school as they build their independence.

Thank you for your continued support. We are so excited for another term of learning, growth, and success. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
