This term, your child will bring home a decodable reader each week to practise their reading skills. Your child will keep the same book for the entire week, allowing them to build confidence, fluency and decoding skills through repeated reading. These books have been carefully selected to match the sounds your child is learning in class and are an important part of developing early reading success.
In addition, your child will have a home practice folder containing the letter sounds they are currently learning. As the term progresses, this will transition to include high‑frequency words to further support their reading development. The sounds and words being practised will be checked each Friday and new learning will be built upon from there. Please make sure to return homework folders every Friday.
Thank you for the time and encouragement you provide at home — even a few minutes of regular practice is highly beneficial and plays an important role in supporting your child’s reading development.
