Following a review of our communication streams in 2025, we will be trialling a more streamlined approach to communication in 2026. Our focus is on ensuring information is easy to find, timely and accessible when needed.

Outlined below are our main communication streams and how they will be used in 2026.

School Website

Our school website www.stanthonysgreen.wa.edu.au will be the central hub for all information relating to St Anthony’s School. All key information will be housed here and reviewed and updated regularly throughout the year.

The new search icon, located in the top right‑hand corner of the website, provides the quickest way to find information. Simply enter a key word and press ‘Enter’ to view all related content, displayed in chronological order.

School News

Our traditional school newsletter and the information previously shared via SEQTA, Seesaw and text will now be published as articles on the website under the School News section, which can be found on the home page or under the communication pull down menu at the top of the website screen.

  • Articles will be listed chronologically and are searchable using the website search function.
  • Each post will be categorised as Whole School News or by the relevant year level.
  • Families can filter articles by year level to view only information relevant to their child.

Weekly Community Snapshot

Once a week (normally published on a Friday), families will receive an email titled: “Term ? Week ? Weekly Community Snapshot”. This email will include a link to that week’s snapshot, which can also be accessed via the School News page.

Each Weekly Community Snapshot will include:

  • A prayer reflection for the week.
  • Upcoming events for the next two weeks with clickable links to relevant school news articles (event dates will come directly from the online School Calendar).
  • A summary of all school news articles posted that week, grouped by category with clickable links.

Seesaw

All classes will continue to use the Seesaw app in 2026. However, teachers will use Seesaw solely to share insights into students’ learning, including images and work samples.

Please note:

  • The chat function will no longer be available – Email will now be the platform used to contact teachers directly.
  • For help accessing or navigating Seesaw, families should contact their child’s classroom teacher.

Email

In addition to direct phone calls between staff and families, moving forward, email will be the primary method for individual communication between school and home.

Please note:

  • Every staff member is contactable by email and in catholic schools the email address follows a pattern – the first name followed by the surname (with a full stop in between first and surname) and then @cewa.edu.au eg firstname.surname@cewa.edu.au
  • Communications of a general nature should be sent to admin@stanthonysgreen.wa.edu.au
  • Parents and carers are reminded to use emails only when necessary; to keep them short and to the point and most importantly, to maintain a respectful tone throughout (a good test is – would you mind your email being published on the front page of the West Australian?)
  • Issues of an important or sensitive nature, or matters that require more than a short response, should be discussed face to face in a parent teacher meeting.
  • Matters of an urgent nature should involve a phone call to the school office.
  • It is reasonable to expect that staff will generally be able to respond to emails within two working days.

Supporting our Staff – Recently, there have been legislated changes to teachers’ employment conditions, particularly relating to workloads and communication outside of working hours. The information below is important for families to be aware of in light of these changes.

As outlined above, unless a matter is urgent, families can reasonably expect a two working day turnaround time for responses to emails from staff. During the school day, staff are teaching for the majority of the time and hold a legal duty of care for their students, which limits their ability to respond to messages during these hours.

Under the updated employment conditions, staff have the right to disconnect and are not required to initiate, read or respond to any form of communication outside of their working hours.  This means that staff will not respond to emails after hours on weekdays or over the weekend.

In line with other professional workplaces, these changes recognise that the staff at St Anthony’s have important roles beyond the school day. Many are parents, carers, family members and friends and it is vital that they are able to fulfil these responsibilities without work interruptions.

Text Message

Text messages will now be reserved for urgent situations only, including time‑sensitive messages that need to reach an individual or family, or notifications such as a carnival/ excursion cancellations due to extreme weather.

Official School Facebook Page

The school website will remain the source of truth, however, St Anthony’s School also maintains an active and official School Facebook page that will be used more prominently in 2026 to share:

  • General updates and event promotions
  • Photos and snapshots of school life

Engaging with our posts through likes and shares helps us celebrate and promote the wonderful things happening in our community.

Thank you for taking the time to familiarise yourself with these communication processes and for working with us to stay informed throughout the year.
