The newly refurbished and landscaped slope at the western end of our school oval is almost ready to reopen.
This project had two key objectives: to reduce erosion caused by water runoff and to create an engaging space where our students can participate in imaginative play. We hope you will agree that the result is a far more appealing environment than potential alternatives such as limestone terraces.
As well as being a space to participate in imaginative play, a Yarning Circle was incorporated into the design. Providing a wonderful opportunity for staff to use the area as an outdoor learning space from time to time.
The contractor has now completed their work and a safety inspection has been carried out. Brad is currently attending to some final finishing touches and we are aiming to officially reopen the space on Monday.
To help minimise congestion and excitement when the area reopens, the students had the oppurtunity today to visit the space and explore the changes.
We extend our thanks to Karen Hepworth for all the work she did to assist with this project from concept to completion. It will hopefully prove to be a wonderful space for our children to enjoy during the school day and while at OSHC.
