As we move further into winter, we are seeing a significant increase in student absences due to illness across many classes. With cold, flu and other seasonal viruses circulating throughout the community, we kindly ask for your support in helping to keep our school healthy.

We understand that it can be difficult to keep children at home, particularly when families are balancing work and other commitments. However, when students attend school while unwell, illnesses can spread quickly to classmates and staff. This can lead to increased absences, disruptions to learning, and situations where parents need to be contacted to collect children who become too unwell during the school day.

If your child is showing signs of illness, has a temperature, is not presenting well, or is not well enough to fully participate in the school day, we strongly encourage you to keep them at home until they have recovered. A day or two of rest can make a significant difference to their wellbeing and help prevent the spread of illness to others.

We also ask for your support if your child’s teacher or the school contacts you to collect your child because they are unwell. Children who are sick are often unable to learn effectively and are more likely to spread illness to other students and staff.

Thank you for your understanding, cooperation and ongoing support. By working together, we can help maintain a healthy learning environment for our students, staff and the wider St Anthony’s community.
