Welcome to our 2026 Inter-House Athletics Carnival. Our carnival will be split across 2 days with our Sprints and Team Games held on Day 1 and our Field Events on Day 2.
The carnival introduces our Pre-Primary students to the foundation of our Athletics carnival on Day 1 through running and team games and our Year 1-6 Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their athletics skills through both individual events and team events.
While there will be a strong sense of competitiveness throughout the carnival, please remember that participation, encouragement and fun are the key values.
Carnival Dates:
Wednesday 16 September
Day 1 Sprints and Team Games – Year PP-6
Friday 18 September
Day 2 Field Events – Year 1-6
Please ensure that your child has their House Faction Shirt, Sport uniform and the appropriate shoes for both days of the carnival.
Supporting Your House
Parents and families are welcome to attend both days and support their child and House. We encourage families to get involved in the House spirit by wearing their House colour where possible. Day 1 will also have coffee vans and snacks available for Parents to help energise you throughout the day.
Day 1 Program
The Day 1 program will alternate between Senior and Junior events throughout the day. We understand that parents may wish to move around to watch their child’s events, however, for the safety of the students and running of the carnival we ask that parents and spectators:
- Stay off the running track at all times
- Remain outside the House Faction tents
- Stay behind the designated spectator boundaries
- Follow the directions of staff and carnival officials
Day 2 Program
The Day 2 program involves rotations around the oval. Parents and families are again very welcome to attend and support the students. For everyone’s safety, we ask that spectators:
- Stay off the circular track, which will be in use throughout the day
- Remain aware of throwing and running zones when moving around the oval
- Follow the directions of staff and carnival officials
CPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival
You may be aware that this year St Anthony’s has joined the Catholic Primary School Sport Association (CPSSA). As part of our involvement with CPSSA, our school will participate in the CPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival in Term 4.
The CPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival is open to students in Years 3–6. Our Inter-House Athletics Carnival will provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills and potentially be identified for selection in our school team.
The following events are eligible for the CPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival:
- 100m Sprint
- 200m
- 400m
- 800m
- Long Jump
- Shot Put
- Turbo Javelin
Further information regarding CPSSA selection and our school team will be communicated to families after our Inter-House Carnival.
Please note that times are approximate and events may be subject to change.
Most importantly, we hope our students have a fantastic two days, demonstrate our school values, support their House and encourage one another. We look forward to seeing our St Anthony’s families there and creating a great carnival atmosphere!

Outlined below is also some additional information to help the days run smoothly.
Updated Day 1 Program
Please note that the Day 1 Athletics Carnival Program linked in the original post on our school website has been updated and now includes approximate times for each session. These times are intended as a guide only and may vary throughout the day depending on the progress of events.
Weather Forecast – Wednesday
The weather is forecast to be very hot on Wednesday. While there will be some shaded areas available for families, those planning to bring their own shade shelter are asked to ensure it is secured and anchored appropriately.
Please be aware that:
- Any shade structures must be safely secured at all times.
- Families may be asked to remove shade shelters if weather conditions become dangerously windy.
- When selecting a location for your shelter, please be mindful of other spectators and avoid obstructing viewing areas.
The designated parent spectator area is located on the far side of the oval, near the Ninja Warrior course.
Weather Forecast – Friday
At this stage, Friday’s forecast is indicating the possibility of wet weather. We will continue to monitor conditions and will communicate with families closer to the day should it be necessary to postpone Friday’s carnival events.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to a wonderful few days of participation, sportsmanship and house spirit.
Signing Younger Students Out of Class
Please note that Pre-Kindy, Kindy and Pre-Primary students cannot be signed out of class to attend the Athletics Carnival. The carnival is only for students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 and for our younger students these days will continue as normal school days.
We ask families to ensure that Pre-Kindy, Kindy and Pre-Primary students remain in attendance and participate in their usual learning program.
Kind regards,
